Minecraft & Networking / Coding Workshop for interested children ages 8 and up

This afternoon is for everyone who wants to play Minecraft together, but also wants to gain a better understanding of the Linux operating system under the guidance of experienced instructors, set up their own Minecraft server, and, of course, install and configure the necessary plugins! MODs are also a major topic! Minecraft is an excellent way to get familiar with networking, Linux, servers, and clients, and to take your first steps in Java or Python!
Level - beginner and advanced
We do a lot of our own work here, exploring new areas in small teams or with our trainers. Everything individually tailored to each child
weekly 90 min each, except public holidays
The workshop currently takes place once a week from 4 p.m. to 5.30 p.m., with a break on public holidays and school vacations.
Costs and duration
Monthly cost starting at €139.90, including all necessary licenses for the course days; minimum contract term: 5 months (1 semester); tickets for 5 or 10 consecutive sessions are also available
Classroom teaching on our laptops
The course takes place at our LernAtelier.Wien location at Erdbergstraße 216a in the 3rd district; an online version is not currently planned.

Material used
We use our own Linux-based Minecraft server, as well as external coding platforms. These also allow for Java programming and the installation of plug-ins.

Every child is at a different level and has different prior knowledge. We adapt and work with each participant individually
Do you also play here?
Yeah, sure! That’s part of it, too. For example, we can set up our own server and then play on it with our friends, or host a building contest!
Can I also use my server at home?
As long as you are actively registered in our workshop, you can also use the Minecraft server you have created at home! You will receive your own access data! Private access to the coding platforms can be purchased at a discount.
Support from an experienced IT trainer
The students are always accompanied by an experienced trainer who is happy to provide advice and assistance as well as further explanations.
This workshop is all about the popular Minecraft games. The children will not only learn how to improve their gameplay, but also everything that goes along with it. This includes networking skills, the Linux operating system, securing the server with a firewall, managing access permissions, installing Java, customizing plug-ins, and much more!
Young people with programming experience can also create their own MODs!
Each student can set their own pace – some are faster, some slower. That’s no problem here with us! We have prepared lots of different ideas – there’s something for everyone! Knowledge of English is an advantage!

Please note that blocks of 5 or 10 are valid from the start date for the next consecutive units. This cannot be changed for organizational reasons. A place in the course with a laptop and the corresponding software license will then be provided!
